Report of a COVID-19 Infection: Ryohei Abe, Snow Man, Johnny & Associates
We announce that Ryohei Abe, a Snow Man artist of Johnny & Associates, was confirmed to have contracted the COVID-19 coronavirus.
Abe underwent a PCR test prior to appearing on a television program and was confirmed to be positive on August 26th.
Although Abe had no change in his physical condition before and after the PCR test, he now has fever, throat pain, and abnormalities of smell and taste. He will receive medical attention over a certain period of time and undergo a follow-up examination.
After learning that Abe had COVID-19, we administered PCR tests for the rest of the group, and all other eight members tested negative.
Based on the health center’s instructions, we investigated whether anyone had had close contact with Abe and identified no one.
Abe had entered the Johnny & Associates’ related facilities recently, and we sterilized the facilities.
Due to his infection with COVID-19, the group will refrain from appearing on FNS Laugh & Music: Uta to Warai no Saiten (a celebration of comedy and music). It had been scheduled to appear on August 28.
We sincerely apologize to those who were looking forward to the show and everyone involved for any inconvenience caused by the cancellation so close to the date.
As mentioned above, the other eight members were confirmed to be negative in the PCR test and are not classified as close contacts, but they will all refrain from appearing on the program today as it is immediately after Abe’s infection was revealed.
Again, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Your understanding is appreciated.
