Report of a COVID-19 Infection: Travis Japan/Johnny’s Jr., Johnny & Associates
We announce that six of the members of the Johnny & Associates group Travis Japan, Miyachika, Nakamura, Shimekake, Yoshizawa, Matsuda, and Matsukura, and a manager were confirmed to have contracted the COVID-19 coronavirus.
Unfortunately, it was necessary to cancel the Travis Japan Live Tour 2021 IMAGE NATION concerts scheduled for April 26 and 27 at the Sapporo Cultural Arts Theater. Please accept our sincere apologies for the concern and inconvenience this has caused the fans who were looking forward to these events and to everyone involved in the events.
On April 26, Yoshizawa, one of the group’s members, noted that he did not feel well after arriving in Hokkaido. He was exhibiting symptoms including fatigue and a high fever of about 39°, and, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was decided to cancel the performances in Hokkaido. Subsequently, all of the members and the manager were PCR tested, and six of the members and the manager were identified as being infected by the COVID-19 coronavirus on April 28. Only Kawashima tested negative. As instructed by the health center, Kato will receive treatment and follow-up observation. Yoshizawa’s symptoms have subsided and the other members have not shown symptoms typical of COVID-19.
In addition, we will ensure that anyone identified as having close contact with a person who has been infected will be informed of the situation and be advised to follow the instructions of the public health center.
The infected members had entered Johnny & Associates’ facilities recently, and we have sterilized the facilities.
In these circumstances, we will cancel the performances in Miyagi and Aichi. We sincerely apologize to everyone who was looking forward to this event and request that you understand our decision. More information will be sent to winners by e-mail and Johnny’s Net.
To date, the artists and staff of Johnny & Associates have all been PCR tested once every two to three weeks regardless of symptoms. In addition, we will ensure that people involved in events that we host are PCR tested prior to the event. From now, we will not host any event unless we have first confirmed negative PCR test results.
We will continue to ensure the safety of our customers, the people concerned, and our artists and employees while taking infection control measures.
Again, we sincerely apologize for any concern this may have caused.
We apologize our delayed announcement, which was caused by time-consuming arrangement including PCR testing.
Your understanding is appreciated.
