Report of a COVID-19 Infection: Riku Koshiba, Kansai Johnny’s Jr., Johnny & Associates
We announce that Riku Koshiba, Kansai Johnny’s Jr., Johnny & Associates, was confirmed to have contracted the COVID-19 coronavirus.
We decided to cancel the reading, “Ichifuji Nasu Ushi Koge Rugii”, where Koshiba was scheduled to perform today (Sankei Hall Breeze). We sincerely apologize to those who were looking forward to the reading and everyone involved for the concern caused by the cancellation on that day. Koshiba tested negative when he underwent a PCR test before the reading and he still has no symptoms of COVID-19. However, he underwent another PCR test after yesterday’s reading, before participating other work and tested positive on January 31. As instructed by the public health center, Koshiba will receive medical attention and a follow-up observation.
Based on the situation surrounding of his activities, we decided to report that Koshiba was confirmed to have contracted COVID-19 as soon as possible, because we placed importance on minimizing the inconveniences that this may cause. Therefore, we made this announcement before completing the process of identifying close contacts and other procedures with the public health center. We will carefully respond to the situation and post updates on our website as necessary. We deeply appreciate your understanding in this regard.
In addition, if anyone who has had close contact with the infected artist is identified, beyond the people involved with Jonny’s Group, we will ensure that they will be informed of the situation and be advised to follow the instructions of the public health center.
Johnny & Associates will endeavor to prevent infections and ensure the safety of you, the people who kindly support us, our artists, and our employees by continuing the measures that we are currently taking, such as wearing masks, hand-washing and the use of alcohol disinfectants, all of which are simple but effective, in addition to teleworking, staggering work hours and avoiding closed places.
