Report of a COVID-19 Infection: Tadayoshi Ohkura, Kanjani Eight, Johnny & Associates

We announce that Tadayoshi Ohkura, a Kanjani Eight artist of Johnny & Associates, was confirmed to have contracted the COVID-19 coronavirus.

On the evening of September 20, Ohkura felt malaise but had no fever, and his physical condition was carefully observed. On the morning of September 21, he had a fever of 37.5℃. Subsequently, he underwent a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, and tested positive for COVID-19 on September 23.  As instructed by the health center, Ohkura will receive a follow-up observation around 10 days after September 20, the date of onset.

Based on the health center’s instructions, we investigated whether anyone in the company had had close contact with Ohkura and identified Maruyama, of the members, and a manager.  Yesterday, all members and managers underwent a PCR test and tested negative.

Therefore, Murakami, Yokoyama and Yasuda, of the members will continue their activities.  Maruyama and the manager, who were identified as persons who had close contact with Ohkura, will receive a follow-up observation after two weeks in quarantine.

Ohkura has not entered the Johnny & Associates building or any related facilities since his symptoms occurred. Therefore, the activities of other artists and the business activities of Johnny & Associates will continue as usual, while taking appropriate measures to prevent infection.

However, if anyone who has had close contact with the infected artist is identified, beyond the people involved with Jonny’s Group, we will ensure that they will be informed of the situation and be advised to follow the instructions of the health center.

Johnny & Associates will endeavor to prevent infections and ensure the safety of you, the people who kindly support us, our artists  and our employees by continuing the measures that we are currently taking, such as wearing masks, hand-washing and the use of alcohol disinfectants, teleworking, staggering work hours and avoiding closed places.

We sincerely apologize for any concern this may have caused.

Your understanding is appreciated.
